I finally got to go to Gally this year for my birthday - and it was amazing. I highly recommend.

The highlights:

-Meeting Peter Davison, Janet Fielding, Sarah Sutton and Matthew Waterhouse. And I missed meeting Daphne Ashbrook because I had to catch my plane! I should have my fangirl card taken away. *pouts*
-Listening to Peter Davison squee over my wallpaper. It's apparently quite rare now (DT doesn't even have it *grin*). And it's SIGNED. :)
-Meeting IDW's Blair Shedd (onegemini on twitter) and getting several sketches and cards!
-Meeting [livejournal.com profile] elrina753 - she really does look like Kristen Stewart! *ducks* She also carries a big camera. :)
-Getting swatches of Ten's suit and Eight's cravat!
-Going out to dinner on my birthday and sitting two tables away from Pierce Brosnan (I was good and didn't stare, take a pic, or ask for an autograph, so I have no proof, but he was there, really!).
-Seeing all the amazing costumes at Gally, meeting loads of friendly people, and getting lots of ribbons! Tony Lee's was by far the best. I'm going to have to come up with one for next year.... *ponders* :)

Awesome! I love the commentaries they did for the 5th Doctor dvds. Best part of them. I can only imagine what all of them in the same room are like. (There's a few ongoing gags about what hands are doing in pockets, and the full story of Matthew Waterhouse's hangover in Castrovalva.)

Apparently, they all did not like Matthew Waterhouse. You would not believe all the little interesting tidbits that came up. I haven't heard the DVD commentaries, so maybe it's all old hat, but it was an eye-opener for me. Janet Fielding is a scream.

Yeah I kinda got that vibe about Waterhouse...and Fielding on some of the Big Finish interviews is hysterical. I can only imagine what the outtakes were like.

It was amazing (and hysterical) listening to them snipe at each other (in a friendly way, of course). :)

Sounds like you had an excellent birthday then!

As for the Pierce Brosnan incident, well I would just sit there and giggle. Not brave enough to as anyone for autographs. Too afraid of word vomiting (and by word vomit I mean saying all of those stupid things along with a heavy dose of 'guh') all over everyone.

I really didn't want to disturb him! He looked like he was having a very nice dinner with his wife and daughter, and then they went to the symphony directly after.

What wallpaper are you referring to? You've mentioned it a few times but I can't tell :).

I have a panel of Peter Davison DW wallpaper, circa 1983.

It was wonderful meeting you too!! I'm just going to ignore certain comments though!

I really wish I could have thought you into existence for that dinner on the last night. It was amazing and you would have loved it. There were only eight of us and one was Daphne Ashbrook and the other was Warris Hussein and the conversation was just... well, there are very few words for how it made my fangirl heart go pitter patter. I played it pretty cool though *g*

Your wallpaper is amazing and probably one of the more interesting items he's had to sign lately. I'm glad it made him sit up and take notice. I didn't do much talking to him (TRISTAN OMG TONGUE TIED) and felt like a bit of an ass for some reason afterwards although I'm pretty sure I'm not memorable enough. (At least I didn't walk in for autographs wearing a 'Mrs David Tennant t-shirt' *cringes so hard*. Did he actually say DT didn't have that or was it just inferred?

I hope you're coming back to Gally next year! I had so much fun hanging out with you!

Me too! Grace is one of my favorite companions and I would have so loved to meet her. Next time. I probably would have just blubbed though, so maybe it was a good thing I wasn't there. :\

I was surprised - I figured he'd just sign it and I'd be on my way, but he and Sarah Sutton cooed over it for quite a while as I stood there just grinning like an idiot. The convo was something like the following:

PD: Oh, this is quite rare, isn't it? I haven't seen one of these for a long time.
SS: Look at that. I've never seen something like that. Is that wallpaper?
PD: Yes. Quite rare now, I'd think. I don't believe David even has that. Where on earth did you get this?

And so on, so forth. I grinned like a loon the entire time, I'm sure, but yes - at least I wasn't the crazy person wearing the 'Mrs. David Tennant' t-shirt to get PD's autograph. *CRINGE CRINGE CRINGE*

I've registered for next year already. :) Maybe I'll dress up like one of the Sisters for next year, although prolly very few people would know who I was. *grin*

The shirt was TERRIBLE. I kept trying to ignore it but it was just so awful you couldn't look away. And then when you realize she interacted with PD wearing that...

On the whole, the fandom was really something to be proud of. There were instances though that just made me want to sink into the floor in embarrassment. Thankfully, those instances were few and far between.

My friend and I had to leave the dinner early because we had flights to catch. When we got up to leave she was quite incensed that she'd be the only woman at the table with all the guys. She knew my friends but gave me a huge hug even though she'd just met me and then told me I had "the most gorgeous English alabaster skin" to which my tongue tied response was "I'm not English" she just laughed at me and said that I had it regardless. I was just so very very impressed by her. Her boyfriend was a sweetheart too. We had a big discussion about the Second Doctor's run before she showed up.

That convo is amazing. I'm finding it very amusing that PD seems to be fanboying DT just as much as DT fanboys him. I'm also amused by the fact that DT doesn't seem to have bothered to hide the fact that he fanboys PD. I went through the entire weekend just extremely amused by the two of them - even though one of them wasn't even there. It almost felt like DT has some sort of presence at the con. And your poster was totally worth gushing over.

I felt so bad going in there for JUST PD's autograph and just blowing by everyone else. I tried to duck out the corner but wasn't allowed, hence feeling like a bit of an ass. But I think it's just because it's always a strange experience trying to talk to people you like when it's across an autograph table. Your experience sounds amazing though, but then again you distracted him by the awesome of your poster.

I need to wait for all the money I spent to register with the bank before I spend money on next year. I came away with SO MUCH STUFF.

Aw. She sounds awesome. *lives vicariously*

It was SO FUNNY. I can just see PD returning to the UK, puffing out his chest and saying something like 'I have wallpaper, you know' at the dinner table. *cracks up*

I'm actually glad I had the wallpaper, because I didn't have to try too hard to make small talk or worry about gushing too much. I just told him I bought it in 1985 (had the postmark on the envelope to prove that), and I was the only kid I knew who had DW posters (not the wallpaper - that was somewhere safe) on her walls when I was growing up. That and the wallpaper narrowly escaped destruction when my parents had their house flood a week after I retrieved the wallpaper (and various other sundry things) from their basement. We actually chatted for quite a while - I was surprised they let me get away with that.

I'm in the same boat - I got PD's, SS's and Frazier Hines's autographs and then had to split to go to the airport - felt like a bit of an ass for that, as obviously other people were signing. :\ Will try to stay longer next time.

Me too! Except I didn't get a cool TARDIS or action figures. *grin* But I did sign up for next year already. I have a feeling I'll have to get a hotel room as soon as they announce the block is available for booking.

She was. I really hope she turns up next year because if she does I have an in for you. *g*

Oh god. I'm having mental images of them trying to one up each other in the toys/products department while everyone else rolls their eyes. To be a fly on the wall!

I wanted to get out of there as quick as I could because they weren't even sure they'd get to group 5 in the amount of time they had. Plus... Warris Hussein's podcast interview was STUNNING. It ended and I think everyone in the audience was like 'What. no PLEASE CONTINUE.' It was his first big Doctor Who convention and he was FLOORED by it. He had no idea what this meant to people and the fact that people actually wanted to hear what he had to say. I had him sign my An Unearthly Child action figure and he'd never had anyone ask that before. He was so flabbergasted by the response he got.

I got Sarah Sutton's autograph way before PD's. She spent so much time sitting in the breezeway being quite. She seems lovely but I just wanted to sit down and make her talk. Which I didn't do as it would have been strange. I got Frazier's at DragonCon and actually got to talk to Janet Fielding a bit about the whole flight attendant uniform thing and how great her outfit was. I have serious love for that woman after this convention.

I think we'll jump on the hotel thing as soon as they open up too. The hotel sold out and apparently no one was expecting it.

I'm also researching better camera mounts and lighting kits as I'm pleased with the photos I got but think they could be so much better. You may be seeing me with a BIGGER camera system next year. *g*

Blimey. It astounds me that someone could even do that! I hope it wasn't one of the jealous fans, that would be worse if it was O.o

I'm really glad you had a fab time at Gally! I hope in a few years I'll be able to go myself. :)
