Previous Parts: Part 1

"What?" Rose sputtered in disbelief. "But... but you said before that it was really difficult to get your barriers down," she said, trying desperately to come up with a way out of her current predicament of having an aroused Time Lord on her hands with her mother still in the flat. "I didn't do anything," she hissed. "How can they be down already?"

"I don't know," the Doctor admitted, a wild, yet somehow vulnerable look in his eyes. "The bond is s-stronger than what I'm prepared for," he said as he leaned toward Rose again from his perch on the couch and lost his balance, crashing to the floor in an awkward heap.

Cringing, Rose watched as the Doctor rolled to his side and slowly moved a hand to where he'd struck his forehead. "Are you all right?" she asked softly, leaning in for a closer inspection.

"Maybe if you'd kiss it, it'd feel better?" he suggested, giving her a quick wink.

"I don't believe this - you and your silly yo-yo barriers," she said, shaking her head as Jackie flew out of the kitchen.

"What happened?" Jackie squawked, the coupon in her hand waving wildly in the air.

"I... er, well...." Rose stalled, hoping that the Doctor would be able to get himself under control within the next few seconds.

"Oww. And oww again. Fell off the couch... blimey, that hurt," the Doctor muttered, an angry red mark blossoming on his forehead.

"Ooooh, look at his eyes, Rose," Jackie said as she knelt down close to where the Doctor lay on the floor. "I think he's concussed! Did you hit your head, dear?" she asked as she attempted to peer into his eyes for a closer look.

"Mum, please! Give him some air!" Rose interjected, trying desperately to think of a way to get the Doctor out of her mother's sight, and quickly.

"Yep, looks like he hit right there," Jackie said, jabbing a finger at the Doctor's forehead as he tried without success to scrunch away from her. "What's wrong with him? You just said he got himself stabbed. Should we take him to hospital? Look at his eyes - they're huge!"

Rose rolled her eyes. "Mum, we've been through this before. We can't take him to a hospital - he's not human. They'd dissect him!" she said, pausing as a sudden brilliant idea occurred to her. "Why don't you get him some ice?"

"If he's an alien, why would he need ice, then?" Jackie asked as the Doctor groaned, his eyes sliding shut.

"For his head, Mum! Please, just get some." Rose sighed as her mother returned to the kitchen, the sounds of her retrieving a bag for the ice clearly audible. "Some Oncoming Storm you are," she murmured as she scooted over to the Doctor's side. "More like the Oncoming Dribble." She shook her head wryly as he groaned again. "Will they go back up? Your barriers, that is?"

"That's... that's a bit easier said than done, I think. Maybe if you're not quite so close," he responded, trying to push himself up to sit and squeezing his eyes shut as he neared her. After swaying a bit, he fell back to the floor with a grunt of discomfort.

"Just how far away would I need to be?" Rose asked, worrying her bottom lip.

"The other side of the planet?" the Doctor offered helpfully.

Rose grinned, momentarily amused despite her worry that her mother might see something untoward occur between them. "Not gonna happen. You're just going to have to get yourself under control." She pulled him to a sitting position, frowning as he tried to lean in again to nuzzle. "And stop that!" she warned. "You know my mum'll never let me leave with you ever again if she thinks we're, we're...." She hesitated as she tried to think of the right word. 'Shagging' seemed way too crude a term, but on the other hand, 'lovers' was too familiar for something so new.

"Involved?" the Doctor suggested in a low voice, moving his fingers to her temple.

Rose swatted his hand away. "Knock it off! She's coming," she whispered as Jackie hurried toward them, bag of ice in hand.

Jackie plopped the bag unceremoniously on the Doctor's head and he started, letting go of Rose's hand and almost falling back to the floor. Jackie's eyes widened as he flailed briefly while trying to right himself. "Rose, are you sure we shouldn't take him to hospital? He's acting awfully strange."

"He... he's been, ah, poisoned, Mum," Rose said, trying to steady the Doctor as he shot her a questioning look. At least she thought it looked questioning - it was difficult to tell with his strangely dilated eyes. "The knife that he was stabbed with... it had a poison on the tip," she said, silently congratulating herself on her storytelling ability. It wasn't really a lie, she told herself. He had been poisoned with soporific by the Sisterhood while they had been on Karn, sort of.

"I knew you weren't telling me everything," Jackie grumbled.

"He'll be okay," Rose said, thinking quickly. "He has these little bouts occasionally, especially when he's tired. He's probably completely knackered after you made him watch that silly soap of yours."

"Oi! He was interested! You didn't see him complaining, did ya?"

"He never complains, Mum, you know that - now help me get him to the bedroom to lie down," Rose said as she put the Doctor's arm over her neck and shoulders to help haul him to his feet. She immediately regretted it as he sagged heavily against her, the evidence of his arousal pressed into her hip. "Hold on," she said, as she guided a wayward hand away from her breast and quickly yanked the Doctor's robe closed with her free hand. Jackie moved in to steady him on his other side.

"Oh, Rose, don't be silly. It's not as though I haven't seen a man in his jim-jams before," Jackie said as Rose quickly knotted the Doctor's borrowed robe at the waist. "Let's just get him into bed. He's heavier than he looks, you know."

"Um, bed... yeah," Rose mumbled. "We'd better hurry before he falls over," she said, nudging the Doctor hard with an elbow as he tried to lay his head on her shoulder. "C'mon, you, time for bed."

They struggled to cross the short distance to the bedrooms, and Rose suddenly realized that they were heading for her mother's bedroom. "Mum?" she started, feeling incredibly awkward again. "Maybe we should put him in my room?"

"Oh, don't be silly," Jackie said, not noticing Rose quickly redirecting the Doctor's mouth away from her neck. "He slept in my bed at Christmas, it's no bother."

Rose bit her lip in indecision, trying to decide whether or not her mother could be trying to bait her, and then thought the better of it. "I really think he'd be more comfortable in my bed," she said, trying to duck her head to hide her flaming cheeks. "It's got that new duvet and all that."

"I wouldn't want to put you out," a strained voice interjected. "You've been terribly kind already. The s-sandwiches were really... good."

Rose nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah - we don't want you to be put out, Mum. The Doctor can have a nap in my bed, and I'll just... sleep on the couch, if need be."

Jackie rolled her eyes. "Fine, fine. But don't go complainin' to me if you get a crick in your neck. I offered."

"It'll be fine, Mum," Rose said as they altered course to her bedroom. "I'll survive."

They carefully maneuvered the Doctor through the doorway and over to the bed, where he sat heavily before flopping down. Rose lifted the lower portion of his body on to the duvet, and he inched his way up to the pillows, inhaling deeply and burying his face in them.

Jackie raised an eyebrow. "I could at least call that medical student. Maybe she'd be willing to take a look at him. She's not a doctor yet, I don't think she'd figure out that he's an alien."

"No, Mum," Rose insisted, trying to come up with a quick way to get her mother out of the room. "I've got some, um, medicine for him, for the poison. I'll give it to him and then he should be able to just sleep it off. He'll be fine."

The Doctor turned from the pillows, opened one dilated eye and looked at her strangely. "Medicine?"

"Yes, your medicine," Rose replied, giving him a quick wink. "Don't you remember? The antidote to the poison, yeah?"

"He's out of his bloomin' head, Rose," Jackie interrupted. "In fact, I think you both are. I'm going to call."

"Absolutely not!" Rose exclaimed, taking her mother by the arm and guiding her over to the doorway. "He'll be just fine. He's done this a few times now, and he'll be back to normal after a sleep. He just needs to let the, er, poison work its way out of his system. Maybe you could make him a fresh pot of tea?"

"Tea? He's already had two cups! If he's been poisoned, I don't think more's gonna help him," Jackie insisted as Rose carefully pushed her out the door.

"No, but the medicine will. I'll have to mix it up and give it to him, so if you could grab me a cup of water first, that'd help," Rose said, poking her head out of the doorway. "Oh, and Mum?" she called as Jackie made her way back to the kitchen. "Better make a fresh pot of mint tea or something like that. The medicine tastes terrible."

"But Rose," Jackie's raised voice called from the kitchen over the sound of running water. "That'll take at least ten minutes for a new pot!" She returned quickly to Rose's bedroom, cup of water in hand.

"It'll be fine, Mum," Rose said as she carefully accepted the cup, trying to keep her ruse going. "It'll take me a few minutes to mix the medicine up anyway. Then he can have the tea, whenever it's ready." She looked back toward the bed as the Doctor groaned loudly behind her. "I really need to get this started, could you please just make the tea?"

"Fine, I'll start a new pot - but I really think someone else with at least some medical training should look at him!" Jackie called as the door was shut in her face. "Rose?"

"Just make the tea, Mum!" Rose called, her voice somewhat muffled by the closed door.

Rose leaned against the door, cup of water in hand as she listed to her mother's footfalls moving away. Sighing heavily, she turned her attention back to the figure on the bed. She smiled softly, watching for a few moments as the Doctor planted his nose in her pillows again, moaning quietly. Her smile grew as she turned the bolt on the door.

"Medicine... don't need medicine... " he murmured.

Rose set the water on her nightstand, being careful not to spill. "No, you don't need medicine," she said softly. "And there isn't any - I've just told my mum a huge fib. It's my own fault, really. I did this to you, so I'll have to help you out, won't I? You'll just have to try to be quiet."

She climbed up onto the bed and he immediately scooted over to her, pressing his face to her chest. "Need... need you, please... " he said, his voice muffled in her clothing. "Barriers aren't going back up... the bond - it's too strong, can't fight it." He lifted his head, liquid desire reflected in the depths of his dark eyes.

"'S ok," Rose whispered, her hand moving to the tie of his robe. "Let me help you...."

Hang on....

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Line 42 as it stands at the moment:

He made a lovely sight, with his slightly swollen lips, his fringe in his eyes and breathing a little erratic.

*grins*

[identity profile] roxyk630.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
*SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL*

42 totally IS the best number!

Then, of course, in a more emotionally-neutral context, there's Here to Stay by New Order (lyrics).

That was before the Magic Fingers got a hold of his scalp.

It wouldn't have taken much at this point - the bond is stronger than he's had time to adjust for. That'll be rectified in the next fic.

It’s like TCI if the big crisis was Ten trying to get into Rose’s pants! Hee!

Man, if only!

So there really was a coupon after all.

Yep - there really was. This is Jackie, after all!

Yes, but not by the knife.

Poor Rose, trying to justify her little fib in her head....

Actually, realizing they’re in Jackie’s room might be just enough to put him off.

Or Rose would just shut the door and leave him alone in there, poor guy.

Not the pillows he’d rather be burying his face in, I’m sure.

*grins* At least they smell like her nice, and they're not nudging him away!

If it flushes it out of his system…

Or at least if she thinks it'll flush the 'poison' out of his system, maybe she'll be more inclined to go make some! *grins*

This reminds me of travelling in France with my grandmother, and her trying to speak Spanish to Parisians because, in her words, ‘it’s a foreign language, they should speak it.’

Yeah.

*grins* Yep, we've got two very different levels of conversation going on here. Even the Doctor is getting a bit confused!

With or without huge blissed-out smile on his face? Or is that later? ;P

That'll be later. Rose won't leave him with the pillows to keep an eye on him. *grins*

I’m not laying odds on his chances for success.

You'll find out in a week!

He is really not used to this. No wonder he wants to take them someplace isolated, where they can just indulge themselves.

Yup - he hasn't had to deal with this in say... 900 years of phone box travel? Plus, the bond is stronger than what his brain is telling him it should be, so he's a little overwhelmed.

I get the feeling it might not take much at this point. ;D

Nope, won't take much at all. Should be over in about the amount of time it takes for the kettle to boil and the tea to brew... Rose hopes. *grins*

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, there's better ones.

[identity profile] roxyk630.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
*snort* Yes. Yes there is. XD;;

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sort of inclined to stay away from the 'emotionally-neutral' context, as Rose is quite foul to him in the beginning, but... *shrugs* I actually need to fixie it up with [livejournal.com profile] platypus's helpful suggestions before I go seeking a matching song.

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, those barriers are down but good, and the danger of being caught is high. I'm glad you enjoyed my lame attempt at humor, 'cause the next part is also very silly. *grins*

See you next week!

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh noes - was your mom affected by Ike?

And yeah, Rose had to make up a quick story there. It gets worse in the next chapter. *sniggers*

Plus, I'd love to see Jackie's reaction to the diagnoses if she did have someone medical look at him "ma'am, he seems to be suffering from acute arousal. Sex is the only thing that will save him"

Heh. Not gonna happen, but that would be funny! I actually did have a little bit with a Cialis commercial that was on during the soap in part 1, but I ditched it as it wasn't working. Was silly, though.

Ten: What? An erection lasting over four hours? What? What?!? WHAT?

[identity profile] elrina753.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
They came through it okay. They have a generator and running water so it could be worse. She was just ready for a little civilization (and internet).

So I guess the quickie in the next chapter won't be nearly as quick as Rose would like? *g*

Ten: What? An erection lasting over four hours? What? What?!? WHAT?

Which begs the question. What would happen if he couldn't get his barriers up and Rose couldn't help him with his problem *eg*

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
They came through it okay. They have a generator and running water so it could be worse. She was just ready for a little civilization (and internet).

Oh good. They must be in the Houston area, then? Hopefully not Galveston.

So I guess the quickie in the next chapter won't be nearly as quick as Rose would like? *g*

I really can't say. *grins*

Which begs the question. What would happen if he couldn't get his barriers up and Rose couldn't help him with his problem *eg*

Hrm... good question! I imagine he might have to avail himself of Rose's pillows if left alone in such a situation. *grins*

[identity profile] helygen.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh wow. I can't believe we've got to wait a whole week for the next part! *pouts*

[identity profile] elrina753.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup. North Houston. They got it bad but the whole thing could have been so much worse. And Galveston getting flattened came as a surprise to no one. That was a matter of when not if.

I imagine he might have to avail himself of Rose's pillows if left alone in such a situation.

And that would be another fic altogether. Poor Ten all revved up and no Rose to help. Poor guy, he goes hundreds of years without sex and as soon as he gets some he's in the position of having to do it under the nose of a mother. How undignified *g*

[identity profile] principia-coh.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)

That'll be rectified in the next fic.

So they can make it out of the TARDIS without a stiff breeze setting him off? XP

Or Rose would just shut the door and leave him alone in there, poor guy.

She's hardly going to tend to his needs on her mum's bed.

Rose won't leave him with the pillows to keep an eye on him. *grins*

One hand placed firmly but gently across his mouth, the other, erm, elsewhere...

Plus, the bond is stronger than what his brain is telling him it should be, so he's a little overwhelmed.

Eeeeenteresting.

Rose hopes. *grins*

Unless somebody gets the greedies!

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooooh, that's a good one. Here's a variation on the theme: http://www.metrolyrics.com/you-are-loved-dont-give-up-lyrics-josh-groban.html

*is too lazy right now to do the fancy cut*

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, if y'all made it through THANTH with those cliffies, this is nothing! *grins*

Would the offer of a line from the next chapter pacify you?

Re: Prin NH Pt 2 Comments 1 of 1

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
So they can make it out of the TARDIS without a stiff breeze setting him off? XP

*grins* Maybe a breeze generated by Rose would do it, but not a breeze in general.

She's hardly going to tend to his needs on her mum's bed.

Um... no. That would just be 'ew'.

One hand placed firmly but gently across his mouth, the other, erm, elsewhere...

Heh. More like a pillow stuffed in his mouth while the other hand is occupied.

Eeeeenteresting.

Well, to be fair to poor Ten, his body essentially consummated the bond to Rose without waiting for his brain to check in. He doesn't remember any relations with her prior to chapter 28 in THANTH, except in brief flashes, nothing with any clarity.

Unless somebody gets the greedies!

Now, now... would Rose possibly get greedy? *grins*

Re: Prin NH Pt 2 Comments 1 of 1

[identity profile] principia-coh.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe a breeze generated by Rose would do it, but not a breeze in general.

The soft swish of a skirt as she brushes past him then. XD

More like a pillow stuffed in his mouth while the other hand is occupied.

Or him sucking on a corner of the duvet. Poor thing.

...his body essentially consummated the bond to Rose without waiting for his brain to check in.

So in this case it was his ass writing a check that his mouth couldn't cash? ;P

Now, now... would Rose possibly get greedy? *grins*

I can't imagine she'll be unaffected by helping him out...

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Absolutely. Ike could have come in as something other than a Cat 2.

And that would be another fic altogether. Poor Ten all revved up and no Rose to help. Poor guy, he goes hundreds of years without sex and as soon as he gets some he's in the position of having to do it under the nose of a mother. How undignified *g*

Oh, God... another omake. *headdesk* Of course, he wouldn't get all out-of-sorts without Rose there in the first place, so....

And yes, poor Ten having to get some under Jackie's nose. VERY undignified.

[identity profile] vallora.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh Thank GOD you're not going to leave us in a lurch with that last line. I was going to scream if you did. ;-)

Re: Prin NH Pt 2 Comments 1 of 1

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
The soft swish of a skirt as she brushes past him then. XD

That might start the train down the tracks, yes.

Or him sucking on a corner of the duvet. Poor thing.

*shakes her head at the fate of the duvet in the next part*

So in this case it was his ass writing a check that his mouth couldn't cash? ;P

*grins* I haven't heard this expression before! His body knows darn well that he's consummated that bond AND had subsequent relations with her, but he's only consciously registering the one time. The bond strengthens every time he releases artron, so it (the bond) is way stronger than he thinks it should be and he really hasn't had time to adjust, as this follows directly after THANTH.

I can't imagine she'll be unaffected by helping him out...

Well, no - the question is will she act on it. She still has the presence of mind to remember that Jackie's afoot - Ten doesn't care at this point. *grins*

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I may leave you with the occasional terrible cliffy, but I'd never leave y'all in the lurch. I post on Wednesdays for the most part, and if there will be some sort of delay (ie if I'm going to be out-of-town), I'll warn you in advance.

That said, want a line from the next part? *dangles*

Re: Prin NH Pt 2 Comments 1 of 1

[identity profile] principia-coh.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
*grins* I haven't heard this expression before!

It was an inversion of the expression 'don't let your mouth write checks your ass can't cash' (i.e. don't mouth off if you can't back it up with your fists).

The bond strengthens every time he releases artron, so it (the bond) is way stronger than he thinks it should be and he really hasn't had time to adjust, as this follows directly after THANTH.

He hasn't had it this bad since the whole sleep-eating thing started right after TCI. He was so very suggestible at the time. XD

...Ten doesn't care at this point. *grins*

Rose: But my mum's right in the... mrphglphbhth.

Ten: *releases the kiss* I heard you lock that door.
