Oh! Yes, mucking around with the entry date will cause it not to show up on flists as a new entry. You could always work on it in the journal, copy and paste it as a new entry when you're done, then just delete the private entry?
And I do have a knack for occasionally missing what's in front of my face. In college, I had to write a lesson plan about "The New Colossus," the poem on the Statue of Liberty. I went on about symbolism, meter, yadda yadda. After I turned it in, a classmate mentioned the first thing she'd said about it: that it was a sonnet. Which was the first I'd thought about that. There are still people who tease me by saying, "And it's a sonnet!" (Usually about things that are not sonnets.)
