Usually there's punishment involved (from Mom, if she's thare, from me or Ed if we're sitting). If it's not to HARSH and it's just a matter of getting their mind off of it? XD; Distraction is key, but as you said waiting it out. I'm a player tho... I'll play with kids to keep their minds off of things (again, unless they need a repremanding, then playtime's out for a bit.) Amily's is usually (from me) "Behave for your mummy or I won't read to you tonight." And that usually keeps her calm for awhile XD; Eddie told me yesterday that his sister has a new word to keep them in line "NANNY MCPHEE" Evidently they were quite freaked out by her!

I've only had to call parents ONCE when I was babysitting due to a tantrum... that was just cuz I noticed the poor girl was turning BRIGHT red (she was only 3) and had a temperature higher than kids usually do at that age. She ended up being sick (hence the tantrum).
