Very good observation - but Rose isn't contributing to the connection. Note that when the Doctor's extra senses are blocked, Lyra is the one facilitating the connection between them. Any telepathic ability Rose may or may not have is still unknown at this point. BUT - the connection itself is significant. (/incredibly crypic comment)
