Exactly... I may buy them and then let them sit on the shelf until the next major wind storm hits Washington and we are without power for days.
If it hadn't been for the rather pointed demonstration in Midnight that if the Doctor doesn't have a companion/advocate in the ranks he's likely to get utterly screwed, they might well have made this well and truly solo.
I hope/suspect that the books won't feature these Martha stand-ins much - although if they're of the caliber of the female scientist that he spent much of Feast of the Drowned partnered with, that won't be a bad thing.
