Update

The missing scene from THANTH is DONE!!!! It's off to the ever helpful and shiny betas for sprucing up and for help in deciding the warnings to slap on as well as to decide how it should be posted/distributed, 'cause it is very, very wrong. Not as bad as it could have been, but still... it's just wrong.

I'm feeling terribly dirty right now. Maybe another shower would help.

Rated 'D' for 'Disturbing', I take it?

There are all sorts of extremely creeping and upsetting places it could have gone, so I'm sure if you're just at shower versus scrub-with-a-wire-brush level it's not that bad.

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2008-07-16 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I find it quite disturbing - enough not to cross post. Feeling a bit better after the shower, though.

[identity profile] garpu.livejournal.com 2008-07-16 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't think it can be *half* as bad as some of the fic I've seen...

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2008-07-16 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Bad as in...? Subject matter? Characterization? *flails some more*

[identity profile] garpu.livejournal.com 2008-07-16 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry, bad = disturbing. Kind of busy at work. Dunno why, but I"m totally creeped out by het/slash involving the kids in the Sarah Jane adventures or Ten/Jenny fic. Realize there are those who like that sort of thing, so I'm not making a judgment against them. But some fics aren't always labeled well. :(

[identity profile] principia-coh.livejournal.com 2008-07-16 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Or random hideous torture for the sake of hideous torture fics. There's plenty of those to go around as well.

[identity profile] garpu.livejournal.com 2008-07-16 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah...although I'm less disturbed by torture, if it's in a plot. I mean, it's not like it doesn't happen in Doctor Who (more in classic than new.) Heck, even Eight in one of the audios was making an offhanded comment about hating torturers with cold hands.

I'll do slash, but I'd stay well away from fics in the genres you mentioned myself. Those are the ones that should be well-labeled with the appropriate warnings to avoid the inadvertant squick.

Get back to work, you!

LOL, yup. I find anything with kids disturbing, and the idea of Harry Potter slash, which I know is out there - that's another D category altogether. Ten/Jenny doesn't appeal but doesn't bother me. I really don't understand why anyone would write or enjoy male preg, but you're right in not being judgemental. There are a lot of harmless kinks about.

I've read far more disturbing things. Not to disparage your skill in writing Very Wrong things, but yours are wrong in a good way.

I think putting it under a lock here would be sufficient -- anyone who liked THANTH can probably handle it.

What? I should be commenting, not noodling around on LJ? Right :).

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2008-07-16 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I stopped myself from making an email flail to you about going down another path - I think I decided that while it might be fun, it wouldn't fit in with the rest and would be incredibly!wrong as opposed to just... wrong.

Could still go down that path, yes we could. *flails anew*

Tell meeeeee!

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2008-07-16 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
What, and make it worse? Although, I'm getting the feedback that it's not that bad.

Is it wrong that I don't care that it's supposedly wrong?

I'm just thrilled that you have written more fic!

THRILLED I tell you. :)

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2008-07-17 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it's clocking in at a mere 2006 words right now, so don't get too excited!

Are you back from your trip?

[identity profile] elrina753.livejournal.com 2008-07-17 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
2006 words is better then nothing at all. And considering what I'm pretty sure the subject matter is, I'm sure they pack punch... *eg*

I came back and now I'm back out again. I think I've spent about 3 days at home so far this month. Good times. :)

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2008-07-17 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
Yep - short, not sweet, and pretty much gets to the point.

Oooooh! Where are you now? Hopefully not in jet-lag la-la land.

How exciting! Dammit I want that fic. I'm sure it's not really disturbing, except perhaps my reaction to it. Does that make me disturbing? (Oh, better not dwell too long on that). Nope.

Come on betas, you lovely, quick-working, clever, wonderful folk you!

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2008-07-17 01:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh. From the initial beta feedback so far, it's not that bad. You'll prolly all just laugh at me when it comes out. Maybe it's just my mom-persona talking.

Be nice to the betas! They are hard-working, lovely, shiny individuals and it might take a while to make the drivel I have written presentable!

[identity profile] littlebatti.livejournal.com 2008-07-17 12:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! More mtempplar fic coming soon!

Disturbing, not disturbing? *Shrug* Its all good.

(Also yay for free hotel broadband)

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2008-07-17 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh. More like 'more fic from [livejournal.com profile] mtemplar coming soon'! *grins* This is just where I dump stuff. Actually, most of my DW-related posts have been ending up here as well, as this is the journal that most of my DW pals read... hrm.

*throws confetti* Free broadband for all! Where are you visiting on your travels?

(Anonymous) 2008-07-19 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
I'm visiting my home city, Cairns. Doing the family thing. Mum and mother-in-law spoiling my daughter rotten.(only grandchild) Nice to be up here during winter. The climate here is tropical and Sydney is cold cold cold.

I can't believe in 2002 when my husband wanted to get broadband I thought I wouldn't use it much and wasn't worth the money. Now if you want to torture me just put me in a room for a month with nothing but a computer and a dial up connection. I hate waiting for stuff to load.

[identity profile] littlebatti.livejournal.com 2008-07-19 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
Oops! That anon post was me. I keep forgetting to sign in when I'm not using my own computer.

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2008-07-19 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah. Mum and MIL in the same city? Mine at least have 2 hours of drive-time separation from each other. Keeps them from competing and all that. Oddly enough, it takes about the same amount of time (7.5 hours) to drive from my house to each of their respective houses. o_0; Yes, the world is a very strange place.

If I am able to find a comp with internet when visiting the motherland, it's usually dial-up, and I agree - it's a killer waiting for stuff to load. Hope you're having a nice holiday!
