Just finished up with work for the week (have been working more due to a sick colleague), and am now preparing for the Hubby's annual company party at our house. We're expecting over 60 people this year!

One problem - temps just went over 100. Send help!

Apologies for lack of stuffs lately - have been incredibly busy of late doing double coverage. I totally fail at life! *grovels*

Aw, you're cute when you grovel! But seriously, don't grovel. You do not totally fail at life. You just lead a larger-than-average life. Very few people could do as many things as you do all in the same day, (often all at the same time!) and pull it off perfectly with never a hitch or a twitch. So give yourself some credit!

Right now I'm just hoping no one dies from food poisoning. I made a really big batch of potato salad. *worries*

How have you been? *hughug* I've missed you!

Put the bowl in a larger bowl full of ice, or if you don't have a larger bowl, then put it on a tray of ice when you set it out on the buffet table.

I'm sure no one will die, but I understand your concern. Recently I turfed an entire package of chicken thighs because I didn't like the way it smelled. My father and sister both assured me that if I washed the chicken really well and then cooked it at a high temperature, it would be fine, but my elderly in-laws are visiting, and I didn't want to risk killing everybody.

I personally have never been sick from potato salad, even when it was sitting out on a picnic table for a couple of hours and I absent-mindedly ate some. Maybe you should get everyone to sign a waiver... Just kidding!

How am I doing? Well, as I said, my in-laws are visiting. For 63 days. My mom-in-law is really high maintenance. My normally patient and cheerful nature is being a strained to the limits of its known boundaries. August 23rd (their departure date) is just a distant speck on the horizon. However, I am so far mostly managing to maintain a positive mindset. It's the only way I'm going to get through this.

I'm also working lots of overtime, which helps.

OMG you poor thing! I'd work lots of overtime too. :\ Let me know if you need any distractions!

Oh, yes, please distract me anytime! And send me the occasional hug. I don't know why it should be so, but I've always found virtual hugs to be almost as comforting as real ones.

It's 10:20 on a Saturday morning and I'm at my office right now. I bet you can guess why.

Is it safe for me to assume that everyone loved the potato salad and the authorities in your city are not investigating a mysterious number of food poisoning deaths?

Bless, the temp is about that with the humidity here. Worser and worser, no AC in the house.

I'm sure everything will turn out fine. Besides potato salad lasts for a while, even in the heat. Maybe give the rest a toss once the party's over.

Ack. Human body temp or outdoors temp? Suck to the former, and we feel your pain to the later. :(

Outdoor temp. And possibly human body temp after a while, but we had shade, fans, LOTS of drinks, so wasn't too terrible. We don't have your humidity, thank God.

I'll take whatever I can get. :)

We had a small monsoon one year during the office party, and it was one mad scramble that I'd rather not repeat.

GOOD LUCK! I remember this one last summer! I can send you several slightly ineffective AC units from Japan? ;)

I should rephrase that ours is perfectly effective... its the lack of insulation Japan uses that is ineffective. :P

Yep, every year. It seems to keep getting bigger though - the hubby's office staff and the size of the par-tay.

What really helped was turning our house AC down really low in the morning before the party - the house stayed fairly cool, even though we were running around in parkas in the morning. :)
