This is the closest match I've been able to find for the coat seen in the Hamlet promo pics.

Here's the original coat in this pic:

And here's the one that I found:
Photobucket

Sadly, the coat sizes are given in unsex, with a medium being the smallest. I'd swim in this thing. I'd buy it for the hubby, but he will only wear a coat if he's skiing. *smacks him* Ah well. Here's the link for the source if anyone is interested. http://www.pyramidcollection.com/itemdy00.asp?c=a&T1=P8474+M&SKW=+apparel&GEN1=All+Apparel&PageNo=1&pos=3#zoom

And yes, I am procrastinating! Why do you ask?

Ooooh! What a gorgeous coat!

Heheh, I own more coats and jackets than I know what to do with. Some girls have a shoe thing, I have a jacket thing...perfectly normal...

I know! I can't justify the massive amount of alterations it would take to get it to fit me, though... *headdesk*

Heh. I have the jacket AND shoe thing going on. And other stuff, but we won't talk about that.... *grins*

Actually, folks that work the Renaissance Faire circuit also make some similar stuff. I'd personally suggest Wolfstone Kilt Co. (their sister company Potomac Leather Co. also does some fantastic leather coats), and Moresca (who is apparently retooling their website right now, but their stuff is terrific and hard-wearing).

Another avenue to explore would be doing eBay/Google searches for 'greatcoat' - you could possibly find something quite similar from a military surplus supplier or military replica maker.

I've debated getting a greatcoat a la Cap'n Jack for the hubby for my own personal amusement, but he'd never wear it. *shrugs*

Do the places you suggest make smallish coats?

The two I suggested both make coats in women's sizes, and also in smallish men's sizes.

If you have any Renaissance Faires/Festivals in your area, they might be worth checking out in person (I don't know where you're at :) ).

I missed the CO Scottish Festival this year - was in Chicago. *is a card-carrying member of the St. Andrews Society*

Oh look - they'll do stuffs in your clan tartan by request!

I'm in Denver - and the dems are in town. I've never seen so many police in my life! Help us!

Ha! Everyone I know in Denver has been saying the same thing. "Help us! Save us!"

Or else they've barricaded themselves in and aren't coming out till it's over...

No kidding! Have you heard about the helicopter convoys? You'd think the environmentally-conscious dems would just take the lightrail....

I have not heard that, but I am not surprised. I've found they're only environmentally conscious when it doesn't get in the way of their perks. (Was that too snarky? *g* It applies to the other side as well...)

I get to prod both sides - *is registered as an independent* The local interviews are fun - there were various delegates on the other day saying that they weren't picking up any souvenirs from the convention as 'they did not consume'. And you and I both know who'll be in line for the freebies! *grins* If we'd see the bigwigs chauffeured around in smart cars as opposed to helicopters, then I'd be impressed.

They don't consume... *right* So that means they aren't supporting local businesses and are anti-capitalism then right? :)

Freebies aren't consuming, they're part of the perks and as we both know, don't get in the way of a politician and his perks.

I would love to see a caravan of smart cars, as it is I imagine Denver has been inundated with black SUV's as well...

*snerk* Denver's a fairly green city - not on a level with the People's Republic of Boulder, but still. We're fairly progressive on that front.

And yes, we have loads of black SUVs in addition to the military helicopter convoys. I'm still hoping we'll see special lightrail runs between the Convention Center and Invesco Field on Thursday.

Very few places can even come close to matching the insanity that is Boulder. I would fear for Denver if they tried it. (I for one love Boulder, I learned some of my best curse words from the males in my family whenever we drove through it. It makes me all nostalgic.)

how green they are! At least you get to point and laugh.

Y'know, I'm not a native, but it's very easy to see why Boulder is referred to as 'The People's Republic of'. They're insane. Case in point - Boulder is extremely land-locked within the Flatirons, and city planners were eyeing some prime prairie dog real estate for expansion. Only problem was, it was inhabited by a prairie dog colony. Boulder opted to relocate the colony (that was a nice thought, I'll give them that) by hiring local college students to catch the little buggers and release them to greener pastures well outside the city. Unfortunately, the college students all came down with a mysterious respiratory pneumonia, which turned out to be hantavirus. *headdesk* They were out there without *any* protective gear whatsoever. Boulder, Boulder, Boulder.... If nothing else, they do make life more interesting.

MUAHAHHAHAHA

That is just so them... I think I might have to tell this to all the family members I have in Colorado so we can all laugh some more at Boulder.

And hantavirus. That's no laughing matter. But, at least the prairie dogs are safe in their brand new home. Who cares about college students anyways?

Apparently, students at the University of Colorado at Boulder are expendable. They're fortunate to be alive, actually. Silly city planners didn't know that prairie dogs carry Hantavirus, Yersinia pestis, and God knows what else....

They can always get more college students, but Prairie Dogs are a valuable resource. Although, considering Boulder it could have gone something more like 'kill off more people in creative ways and save the planet bit by bit!"

I could have told them that about Prairie Dogs. Not the specific diseases, just that they carry nasty disgusting things and you shouldn't handle them without protective gear. But, The Boulder City Council knows best.

*dies* That is so true! I think they did end up suing the city for medical expenses (the ICU is an expensive place) - don't know what came of it, though.

My brother used to live in Boulder - he could tell you all sorts of interesting things about the city council. He's one of the most liberal guys I know, and he ended up moving to CA because he got so sick of the Boulder mentality.

You know, a city has problems when it's too liberal for the liberals. I for one would LOVE to hear your brothers stories as I'm sure they would have me rolling.

Me too. That was just ridiculous.

He's got some good ones. I'm particularly fond of the one where he followed one of the ratty-looking persons begging on the Pearl Street Mall back to the garage where they climbed into their Range Rover, complete with CU student tags, to drive back to their dorms.

Do not ask [livejournal.com profile] roxyk630 about what we are planning on doing with her pink travel case when she goes to Stratford. It *is* bigger on the inside, after all. Plenty of room for... er, souvenirs?

Well... if the bag is bigger on the inside...

Considering the quality of the "souvenirs" I'm sure parting with some cash won't be a bad thing if it means getting the bag home. So you can enjoy your "souvenirs"...
