Don't you have a 'I can not haz Hamlet' Support Group?

If so, I'll sign up for that.

When I first heard that the Doctor and Capt Picard were to do Hamlet, I flailed. And then I bummed out on the fact that my chance of finding a Dalek in my pantry was higher than seeing Hamlet.

This is about as close as I'll get:

And the chances of finding a dalek in my pantry?
Well, this month on my monthly pub get-together someone brought a Dalek head in bag. Usually there is just a smattering of sonic screwdrivers, tardis keys and pocket watches. So my odds are improving.

I could really use that 'I can not haz Hamlet' support group. Had I known the hubby was planning a surprise trip to the UK for our 10th anniversary, I so could have modified the dates. Wouldn't have been a surprise then, but I DON'T CARE!!!! *headdesk*

OMG - Patrick Stewart on Sesame Street! I'm going to see Avenue Q today, so I find this doubly amusing. *grins*

Are these DW-related pub gatherings? I want to go! I usually only get to geek-out with the kidlings. Actually, the baby is very cute. If she's around when we're watching a DW ep, she'll run around the coffee table shrieking 'Docker Hoo!!!!' at the top of her little lungs. One could die from the cuteness.

Yes! These are DW-related pub gatherings. They have been a life saver for me. I moved from Cairns to Sydney (for hubby's work) a few months ago and didn't know anyone here. I tried playgroup associations to meet other mums but most were snobby and not very nice. Couldn't find any other groups like art or book clubs etc to meet people so I turned to the other thing I love - Science Fiction.

I found the DWCA http://www.doctorwhoaustralia.org/index.html they have a monthly pub meet up called 'Tavern'. They also have other events through the year which I haven't been to yet. Real diverse range of people. Still have not met any mothers but they are nice people to chat to. My whole life I never had anyone much to geek-out with before now either. And now I know someone who has a Tardis in their garage. OMG!

"Docker Hoo!!!! That IS sooooo cute. My 2.5 yr old does something similar. http://sandi808.vox.com/library/post/the-telstra-tardis.html She gonna be a geek like her mum and dad. Poor girl.

Oh, yay for you! I've discovered that mothers who like DW are few and far between, unless they themselves grew up with the show. I think I'm going to have to get silly t-shirts for the kidlings to promote the show here, as Katy (age 8) is the only one in her class who knows what it is, apparently.

And your 2.5 yr old is very cute! *grins*
