Stuffs

For those outside the UK, the Doctor Who DVD Files are finally available online! For a fee, of course, but you can peruse the first two issues for free.

Link here: http://magazine.dwfiles.com/index.odl

Hit the green 'Browse by Issue' button to page through.

Also, the cover for the upcoming update for DK's DW Visual Dictionary is out, book to be released on April 20th. Man, there's a lot of books coming out in April....

Shoot. is the Info up on Amazon UK yet? I may order it and have Mum bring it over in July... or... *trying to figure out who she doesn't mind getting ridiculed from on the hubbies side.* MY STEPMUM! OR FATHER IN LAW XD; They're obsessed with the show too... :3

*NEEDS*

um... this is going to sound stupid. BOOK DEPOSITORY?!

Yeah. :3 I kept telling family there was this "Who" book I wanted (the first illustrated dictionary) Mum got me that and the Who Encyclopedia for my birthday. ;3 <3333333 Now I just need the Space Travels and Time Travels books (I keep passing them when we go because they're a rather large book to pack.) XD;

Here it is: http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/book/9780756651565/Doctor-Who

Prices are good (better than Amazon's in some cases), and they ship free worldwide - just be prepared to wait, as the shipping is a bit slow.

Heh. 'Space Travels' and 'Time Travels' are very kid-oriented - they have lots of pop-ups, lift-the-flap and other such nonsense. Baby likes them. *grins* I always have various and sundry DW items on my Amazon list, but my immediate family refuses to fuel my addiction - so they send gift cards to Amazon. *shrugs* Funnily, though, my sister-in-law's family grabbed two of the DW books off of my list to give for Christmas, and now I've managed to corrupt addict my two nieces, wah ha ha! Jordyn (age 13) will be getting some DW books for her birthday in May - her favorite char. is Rose. *grins* I am very evil.

DUDE. Checking THAT out!

XD; Nothing ships slower than DOLLS. I bought one in January. I'm hoping it ships by April/May. We'll see. XD;

YES! I looked through them... man, we were in the UK when Time Travels came out. :3 I almost bought it then but I wanted to see if they updated it as the series continued. It was... God... I hate to say it 75% off during Christmas Sales. I decided to wait (since we usually go at Christmas, I'd find it again). Now I'm looking at just ordering it to save myself trying to lug it home. :3 I loved LOVED LOVED the Girl in the Fireplace page <3333 AND The Empty Child/Doctor Dances page? AWESOME stuff. <3

MWAHAHAHAHAHA! CORRUPT THEM! CORRUPT THEM ALL! *cough* I mean... *ahem* That's lovely! :D I corrupted my parents... I'm working on several more of my friends. Evidently my dolly corruption works better (surprising)!

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2009-03-06 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
They're good folks - I've never had an issue, other than shipping is slow. Maybe not as much as dolls, though!

Might be better to order, then? Those books are bulky and heavy.

I know! She happened to see one of Katy's books (I got her the 'choose your own adventures' series for Christmas) while she was here on school break and asked what it was. I was only too happy to tell her! *grins*

[identity profile] roxyk630.livejournal.com 2009-03-06 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Dolls are ridiculously slow. A QUICK ship time is about a month. Slow... you're looking upwards of 6+ Granted they're all coming from places like Korea, Japan, or China for the most part, so the shipping is bound to take some time. And since a lot of them have different seasonal/religious breaks? XD; Right now the people that ordered the same doll I did? Are kind of doing what Who fans do to spoilers/spec. "OMG!? MAYBE THIS *insert shipdate/or who character information*" "Nah! More than likely its this *insert shipdate/Who spec*" XD; I'm avoiding it. Dolly wank/spec is infintely WORSE than Who. XD;;;

EXACTLY. And trying to get 2 of them home? XD; Granted I DID get remote control Dalek Sec home from England... that had to be fun for TSA. XD;

EHEHEHEHEHE START THEM YOUNG. *ahem* Evidently my nieces enjoy it? But they're a bit young to "get it" Amily is evidently already dreaming about Zach Effron and how she doesn't like him kissing whats her face from HS Musical. XD;;; She's 4.

Really? I've gotten their stuff within 5 days or so. That is, when my post office doesn't LOSE the package, then find it 2 months later. *sigh*

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2009-03-06 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
That's insanely fast! I'm still waiting on a package that shipped on 2/21 (went birthday shopping). *drums fingers impatiently*

I actually got Space Travels and Time Travels from Amazon US for pretty damn cheap.

[identity profile] roxyk630.livejournal.com 2009-03-06 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
SWEET! It's been awhile since I looked there in all honesty? XD;

[identity profile] principia-coh.livejournal.com 2009-03-06 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Doctor Who DVD files... online. How about shipping the mag to the US? Yeesh.

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2009-03-06 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
No kidding. If I'm going to pay x amount, I'd like to have something in my hands, thanks.

[identity profile] principia-coh.livejournal.com 2009-03-06 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Especially since they ship to Australia, for feck's sake!

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2009-03-06 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Whut? They ship to Australia and not to the US? *is confuzzled* Must be the R2 deal rearing its head again.

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2009-03-06 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, then that's just crazy not to make an R1 for the US.

[identity profile] principia-coh.livejournal.com 2009-03-06 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
What it sounds like to me is that the discs might actually be region-free, but who knows?

*wishes one of the Who vendors stateside would start to carry the flipping thing*

Query about Book Depository: if you order a bunch of stuff from them, some of which they have, and much of which is preordered (with various shipping dates), do they ship as things are available, or do they sit on everything until the last item in an order has come out?

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2009-03-06 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Funny you should ask - I just received 'Sontaran Games' from them (yay!), but no sign of 'Darksmith 3' yet. When I've ordered before, they've shipped as things come in. You usually get each thing you've ordered separately.

[identity profile] principia-coh.livejournal.com 2009-03-06 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh. That sounds like that could be incredibly helpful. That's the one kicker for Amazon UK - that fecking shipping cost.

Not to mention when they randomly decide you need to sign for a shipment - B and I just had to run to our local postal depot today to pick up a shipment that I had assumed was stalled in customs, but was in fact getting ready to be turned around because I hadn't come to pick it up yet. *grumble*

[identity profile] mtemplar-fic.livejournal.com 2009-03-06 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Bookstore Depository is great. My only issue is you might have to wait for stuff for a while, and they don't provide you with a tracking number, but then again, I don't believe Amazon UK does either. Also, you might want to note that the price you see for pre-orders will go up as you approach the actual release date. So...if you're going to pre-order, do it at least two weeks in advance before the price starts to go up. Also, if the price goes down after you've pre-ordered, they'll give you the low price, just like Amazon does.

Oooh... good thing you nabbed it. Anything good?
