DW: The Darksmith Legacy canceled?

Received an email this morning from the Book Depository saying that my preorder would be refunded, as 'the line has been canceled'. Anyone know anything about this? I did some digging around, and the Book Depository has yet to remove #4, along with subsequent releases from their site. Same story at Amazon UK. The Darksmith website has nothing, and appears to be functioning normally.

*grumbles* I'm hoping it's just that the BD has decided not to carry the line, not that it's actually being halted.

EDIT: Have heard from the Book Depository (did I mention I lurve them?) - apparently, they've run out of their stock, NOT that the series is being canceled. Will have to order Darksmith #4 from elsewhere, but I'm ok with that, as long as the series is still ongoing. So, I suppose my next question is for principia_coh - when did you preorder Darksmith #4?

XD; I meant in the sense that IDW sometimes only prints to order. So if Book Depository only orders 400 copies. That is ALL they will get hence why they might have cancelled from the company. If the re-order they may get a different "second print" version or something. I'm not saying that's the case for sure, it's just something that comes up. :3

YEP! Since I was 12 up through HS. I even taught lessons for awhile :3 I miss it. Nothing more relaxing that the quiet of the pool and the feel of that water... and swimming laps. Love swimming.

Things will get better eventually, despite the stimulus plan as it is right now. IMHO, it prolongs the agony. The economy will recover on its own, with time.

I'm not a natural at writing fiction, which should be obvious. I might have the outline in front of me, know how to get from point A to point B, but when it comes to the actual writing of that? It takes me a while. And the current distractions don't help, unfortunately.

Ah! Yes - I imagine they ordered X amount of copies at Y price for preorder pricing, then when all of those were spoken for, they order more at Z price. Will have to see, though. *waiting for confirmatory email*

Sorry, sorry. They'll be doing the equivalent of the three base books that were originally done by Dungeons and Dragons and whose general structure have since been used by pretty much everyone save GURPS.

DMG = Dungeon Master's Guide (the book for the person who's going to run the campaigns)

PH = Player's Handbook (the book for people playing the game; helps to build characters, doesn't have as much system information as the DMG)

MM = Monster Manual (does what it says on the tin)

Oh it was for principia_coh but if you would like to weigh in I would really appreciate it. And thank you for the link. I get confused about what's what in the DW genre. There are so many off shoots.

Just got a cancellation notice from TBD; if it helps, I wasn't getting any sort of a discount.

They issued the same email, claiming the line has been discontinued. I've emailed them back with the following query:

"Hello!

Am I correct in my understanding from your message below that the entire series of The Darksmith Legacy books have been cancelled? If that is indeed the case, I have further books in the series as part of the same order, up through the farthest-out book you had available, The Darksmith Legacy: The Pictures of Emptiness Bk. 8 .

If the remainder of the series is not to be published, when may I expect a refund on the remaining items?"

Ooooh! Not you, too!

When they emailed me back yesterday, they said this:

am afraid we could not supply the book as we ran out of stock just before your order, we did send an email apologising and advising. Could this have been blocked or filtered? You have been refunded in full for this title.

I've re-ordered Darksmith 4 from them, plus preordered the remaining titles this morning - we'll see if the order goes through. I'll be very interested in the reply you get for your email. You'd think they'd fix the wording on that generic email they use to avoid panic, if indeed all that's happened is they've run out of their alloted pre-order stock. *ponders*
