Yeah I saw that and to be honest I wonder why it's being shut down.
I guess work load is one reason but could Tennant's and RTD's departure be another? I think the fan base is going to loose a certain amount when the last episode with DT airs.
Look at what happened with Harry Potter, I for one stopped reading website and such things once I had my copy of book seven. One of my good friends runs pottersues here on lj and I haven't been bothered to look at it in ... well years I guess.
I've run into that with conventions before; the founders decide they don't feel like running it anymore (even if they have next to nothing to do with the actual work in later years), and instead of letting the people who've been staffing the con take over, they'd rather kick everyone out of the sandbox and take their toys with them than chance seeing other people have more success with it than they did.
Not that I ever set foot on OG, given everything I've ever heard or seen about it, but I can't imagine it was pleasant having to police the forums. I can't blame him for not wanting to continue to play ringmaster to the Doctor Who Fight Club. Especially not when he has a potential huge set of ongoing fights coming on as soon as the last frame of Ten's final special airs.
Something similar happened with pottersues. But the original creator made up a little test that other's could do and the one with the best score because the new 'Sue master'.
Hence why my friend took it over.
It's sad though that the creator of Outpost Gallifrey decided to let it go to dust rather then let other's play with it. Almost feels greedy doesn't it. But it's their decision.
I'm downloading threads as pdfs...there's one with an author of a Benny story that talks about Brax regenerating. It's going to be sad to see it go, in a way.
I chose "show printable version" from forum tools. Then in firefox, I chose print to file, then selected pdf. (and renamed the file to something I could remember.)
Aw crap. Looks like the print to pdf is a linux thing. Not getting that option in firefox in windows.
Geeky over-engineered method: get an ubuntu live cd, pop it into the computer, boot linux without installing, mount your hard drive, and print stuff to pdf that way. :)
I got the feeling that Shaun thought the show went to hell with S2 and never recovered his enthusiasm. He's slowly been stepping away since then. There will surely be a successor of some sort, but I'll miss OG/DWF. I haven't checked it much lately, but I knew exactly where to go for news on the toys, etc.
