DW Ongoing starts up in two months - still no word on subscriptions from IDW, but here are the RI covers from the first two issues. The art for the first two-part story arc, 'Silver Scream', will be done by British artist Al Davison, and he's based the RI covers from old-style Hollywood movie posters - cookies to who can guess the film that the second cover is based on (one of my personal favorites!).
1st issue:

(Is it bad that I'm salivating over Ten tied up? Bad me!)
2nd issue:

(Name that film! I actually own it! *laughs*)

Date: 2009-05-06 05:26 pm (UTC)I must admit that the tied up picture is what made me pause and stare a bit.
...but the Doctor doesn't normally wear a belt with his suits, as shown in the tied-up image. How sad am I that I know this?

Date: 2009-05-06 05:33 pm (UTC)Note that he doesn't have the high-top converse either. We're both sad. But it's still a nice picture. :)

Date: 2009-05-06 06:12 pm (UTC)Did you get to listen to DT & Catherine Tate interview Paul Merton about his "Silent Clowns" show when they were hosting for Jonathan Ross' over Easter? That sounds right up your alley!
You are absolutely right about the Converse too! I hadn't noticed that. It is still a very nice picture... A very, very nice picture...

Date: 2009-05-06 05:35 pm (UTC)I wonder if someone's mad Photoshop skillz could do it... Ken's pretty good at that, but I'm embarrassed to ask! Might be a bit difficult considering the size of the picture, though.

Date: 2009-05-06 05:48 pm (UTC)Although my first thought when I saw it was "is he wearing jeans and a t-shirt? Ten would never do that!" It took me awhile to figure out it was supposed to be the blue pin-striped suit.
And yes, they should tie him up more. Why does fandom always write about Ten being imprisoned and yet the show never really gives it to us? (and I just realized I'm asking a "children's show" to do "bondage" *headdesk*)

Date: 2009-05-06 06:17 pm (UTC)Hrm... yeah, the clothing is a bit fluid. I thought it was Ten II's t-shirt for a minute, but then saw the tie.
and I just realized I'm asking a "children's show" to do "bondage" *headdesk*
I'm ok with that. Where do I sign?

Date: 2009-05-09 04:35 am (UTC)So, what's with the device attaching his waist to the tracks? Is that supposed to be a belt? His suits are bespoke!
Anyway, for some reason (probably work-related), hadn't seen this 'til now.
Just got notification from The Book Depository that they have the updated Visual Dictionary back in stock, if you needed to order it.

Obviously, Ten has done some shopping. He's also purchased some non-high top converse with the logo in the wrong place! *grins*

I think the UK release date might've been pushed back for whatever reason - Amazon US actually came out cheaper on this one, so I ended up preordering from them - will supposedly be out here on the 23rd. The folks at BD recently did another 'cancellation' of another title on me - with the same generic email from before when I inquired about a title that had been listed as 'processing' for over a month. *grumbles* Still, they usually come out with the best prices, if not the best of communication (or shipping speed, but hey - it's free).
